Lutheran Church of the Redeemer

Jerusalem

The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer is located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.

It was build by Kaiser Wilhelm. It is from the church tower that you can have a great view over the Christian Quarter and much further on. The way up is long, but the outlook is rewarding.
A sensational discovery was made during excavations for the new church in 1893 when the builders came across the “Second North Wall” which was interpreted as the city wall from the time of Jesus and has been mention by the Jewish Historian Josephus Flavius. For a small entrance fee, you can visit the excavation.
