It was build in the 2nd century BC and the name comes from Byzantine Christians who considered this the place of the palace of King David. The courtyard is beautiful and place to many events. The view from the citadel onto the Old City is worth the visit. The museum concentrates on the 4000 year old history of Jerusalem from the Canaanite times up to today.
